ObituaryJohn Gerald Nugent, 88, returned to his Lord on Saturday, August 6, 2005 at The Forum at Brookside in Louisville, KY. He was a resident of Ft. Myers from 1988-2001.He was a World War Two veteran, serving in the 20th CORP of General Patton's 3rd Army. His decorations included the Purple Heart. After his war time service he joined the 100th Division, retiring in 1962, after 21 years of total service with the rank of Major.Upon graduation from Male High School in 1936, he began a long and illustrious career with State Farm as a second generation agent. Upon his return from World War Two he married the love of his life, Margaret E. Kaltenhaler. They were married for 55 years, until her death on September 22, 2001. During their years together they traveled extensively. Mr. Nugent retired from State Farm in 1988 after 52 years of faithful service to his company and clients.He is survived by daughters, Donna Tasso (John) of Las Vegas, NV, Bonnie Rice of Shelton, WA, and son Milton Nugent (Gaile) of Louisville, KY; sister in law Barbara Bassett (Bob) of Tyler, TX; brother in law Charles Kaltenhaler (Barb); 10 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.The family wants to thank the staff, housekeeping and especially the nursing staff of the health care unit of The Forum at Brookside for their four years of dedicated, faithful, and loving care they administered to Dad and his family.A memorial service will be held at The Forum at Brookside, Sunday August 14th at 4:00 pm. The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations be made to Hospice of Louisville or the charity of their choice.
