BILLERICA -- John. F. Harkins, 64. a longtime Billerica resident and Korean War veteran, died yesterday, Sept. 13, at home after a long illness. He was the husband of Kathleen (Sullivan) (McCormack) Harkins .He was born in Medford, Aug. 7, 1942, son of the late John J. and Phyllis G. (Ward) Harkins and had lived in Billerica for most of his life. Mr. Harkins had served in the Army during the Korean War and had been employed as a bartender at the Bedford American Legion for more than 20 years .Besides his wife, Mr. Harkins is survived by two sons, Scott Harkins and his wife Melissa of Nashua, and Sean Harkins and his fiancée Laura Poulin of North Oxford; a daughter, Deborah Muchata and her husband Jim of Shirley; a brother, Robert Harkins and his wife Linda of Pepperell; a sister, Madge Meehan and her husband William of Pepperell; and two grandchildren, Christopher and Corey Muchata.
