Avis de décès de John-Edward Tierney

TIERNEY John Edward Tierney (Jack), age 80, of Beaver Dam Road, Stratford, died peacefully in his sleep on Thursday, June 21, 2007. He served his country during World War II in the Navy Fire brigade. In 1949, he married Natalie and shortly afterwards started a 41 year career with Pepperidge Farm Bakeries which took him from driving a bread delivery route to upper management. In 1965, he graduated from the Harvard Business School for Advanced Management Training. He retired from the Norwalk corporate office of Pepperidge in 1992 as Vice-President of Corporate Relations. He was a past president of the Norwalk United Way and directed capital campaigns for Junior Achievement, the YMCA, and the Girl Scouts. Jack was a professional, national award winning bird and decorative duck decoy carver who showed his carvings competitively throughout the east coast. His interest in hunting and water fowl preservation led him to philanthropic work with Ducks Unlimited, Connecticut Water Fowlers and the Connecticut Audubon Society. He was the statewide Chairman of the Audubon Society's bird carving shows and he chaired the Connecticut Audubon Society's Milford Point Capital Fund Drive. An avid fisherman and nature lover, he served as the President of the Beaver Dam Lake Association and worked tirelessly to preserve the natural balance of the lake habitat.
