Dr. John David Thomas went to be with the Lord on, Sunday, September 15, 2013. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Patricia Beck Thomas; daughters, Diane Kimball (Gary), Teresa Mitchell (Daniel), Rachel Deweese (Daniel); and his brother, Eric Thomas (Dorothy). He is also survived by eight grandchildren; and three great grand children. Dr. Thomas was a Veteran of World War II and Korea. He retired as an Army Captain. He worked for The Duval and Palm Beach County School Systems. He earned a Bachelors and Masters Degree from the University of Florida and a Doctorate Degree from Nova University. He pastored churches in Palm Dale and Pioneer, Florida. He also volunteered with the Big Lake Baptist Association. He loved playing in the Lampi Memorial Band. He also loved singing and playing the piano and harmonica. Although we know he is with his Lord and Saviour, he will be missed by his family and friends left behind. The family received friends from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2013 at the Scott Funeral Home 504 W. Interlake Blvd. Lake Placid. Funeral services to celebrate Mr. Thomas' life will be 11 p.m., (today) Thursday, Sept. 19, 2013 at the Faith Baptist Church 660 Holmes Avenue, Lake Placid with Pastor Bill Cole officiating. Military honors to follow presented by the VFW Post 4300 Honor Guard. Interment at the Ridge Lawn Cemetery in Clewiston, Fla.
