MORRISVILLE >> JoAnn Marie Newton, 66, of South Street, passed away Thursday, March 7, 2013 at her home with her family by her side.She was born Aug. 13, 1946 in Syracuse, a daughter of John C. and Vivian VanDerWater Smith and was a graduate of DeRuyter High School. On Feb. 28, 1965 JoAnn married Lloyd J. Newton in DeRuyter. For over four decades, JoAnn and Lloyd were dairy farmers. Following that, she had worked at McLaughlin's Department Store in Hamilton, and then for Dielectric Laboratories in Cazenovia. JoAnn's life was her family. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who took great pride in the accomplishments of her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed traveling with them to their sporting events, dance recitals and anything else they did. She loved playing cards as well as holiday and family get-togethers.
