Jeanne Owens Pearson, 78, passed away on Saturday, February 25, 2012 at Capital Health Regional Medical Center.Born in Philadelphia, PA and raised in Atlantic City, NJ, Jeanne was educated in Atlantic City public schools. She graduated from Glassboro State College (Rowan University) and completed Master's level and graduate work at the College of New Jersey and Rider University. She continued with Doctoral classes in education at Rutgers University. She retired from the Trenton Board of Education after 35 years of service, having held positions as teacher, reading and language supervisor, and Director of Personnel.She was a lifelong member of the National Sorority of Phi Delta Kappa Pi Chapter as well as Delta Sigma Theta. She also taught in the praxis study/review program for several years. Jeanne was a founding member of the Trenton Community Charter School and a former member of the Board of Trustees of Young Scholars Institute. She will be remembered for her kindness, intellect and her love for words. She was fastidious about most things, and lived for and loved to play bridge.Predeceased by her husbands, Otis Woods and Samah Pearson, she is survived by her son; Craig A. Woods (Denise) of Pinole, CA; her brother; Peter Bibby; of Rochester, NY; and her devoted caregiver; Mary Ganges Mason of Trenton.At her request, there will be no funeral service. A memorial gathering will be held at a later date. Arrangements are by Anderson Funeral Service.
