Jeanne (Manter) Melansonof Tyngsboro, MA TYNGSBORO, MA -- Jeanne (Manter) Melanson, passed away peacefully, Monday, February 25th, at her home with her family by her side. She was the widow of the late James A. Melanson Sr.Jeanne was born in Newton, MA on February 22, 1929, a daughter of the late Dorothy and Fred Manter.Jeanne was a devoted wife and mother and dedicated her life to caring for and raising her children. When they were school age, she worked as a cashier at various places such as Bradlees and the family store, Melanson's Food Store in Lowell.Jeanne loved to write and often sent "letters to the editor" for the Lowell Sun. She enjoyed crocheting, swimming, and dancing. She was a member of St. Anne's Episcopal Church and a member of The Order of the Eastern Star.Jeanne is survived and will be deeply missed by her children, James Melanson Jr. and his wife Tutu, Connie Melanson and her husband Steven Carey, JoAnn Sargent and her husband Howard, Mark Melanson and his wife Marcia, and David Melanson; and her sister Edith Minty, and her brother-in-law John Melanson ( Butch), and her grandchildren, Carrie Garau, Amy Tucker, James Melanson III, Joshua Gendron, Justin Melanson, Sabrina Sargent, Hollie Melanson, Heather LaBrie and Heidi Melanson; and also her great-grandchildren, Cristian, Mikayla, Jaiden, Brielle, Korey, Brandon, Nathan, Haylee, Gaige, Ella, Addy and Ryan.Her family would like to extend a special thanks to the VNA Hospice Service and especially her caregiver, Beau Echols.MELANSON -- Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects from 3-7 p.m. on WEDNESDAY, February 27th at the DRACUT FUNERAL HOME, 2159 LAKEVIEW AVE., DRACUT. A funeral service will take place of THURSDAY morning at 10 a.m. also at the funeral home and burial will follow at Edson Cemetery in Lowell.
