KING Jean R. (Hutchinson) King, age 87, died peacefully on Thursday, January 9, 2003. She was born in Bridgeport, where she was a longtime resident, and lived in New Britain for several years. She was a 1936 graduate of Russell Sage College in Troy, N.Y., and in her younger years she was employed by Southern New England Telephone Co. She took great pride in her support to her husband, Atty. Francis J. King, who was a president of the Board of Education in Bridgeport between 1957 and 1973. Among her many interests in the community, she took great pride in hosting a reception for the late Senator Thomas J. Dodd after his return following the Nuremberg Trials. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother, and will be missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her devoted son and daughter-in-law, Atty. John King and his wife, Patty King, of New Britain; her daughter-in-law, Janet T. King of Stratford, and her daughter, Crystal. She also leaves her six other grandchildren: Megan, Shaela, John Patrick, Colin, Brighid and Samantha; a cousin, Carmella Reed; and several nieces and nephews. Besides her husband, she was predeceased by her son, Francis J. King. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 14, 2003, at 9 a.m. at New Britain Memorial/Sagarino Funeral Home, 444 Farmington Avenue, New Britain, followed by funeral liturgy at 10 a.m. at St. Mary Church in Newington. Committal prayer services will be at St. Michael Mausoleum Chapel in Bridgeport, at 12:30 p.m. for her friends in Bridgeport. Burial will be at St. Michael’s Cemetery.
