PATTERSON, Jean Rea (Cameron) May 19, 1915 May 12, 2007 Jean passed away in her sleep in Victoria just a week before her 92nd birthday. She is greatly missed and fondly remembered by her immediate and extended family; Barbara Elson, Dan and Kathy Patterson, Bruce Patterson and Joan Wagner, sister Jess Stevens and family, Tara Elson and sons Solomon and Graeme, Marcus and Amber Elson and son Sterling, Ian and Teresa Patterson and son Kieran, Lisa and Jay Hendry and son Adam, Scott Patterson and family, Alec, Laurie and Neil Hatfield and family, Brenda and Cameron Longfellow and family, Betty Farr and family, Peggy Dix and family, Marjorie Bower-Patterson, Sherry Brydson, Duncan, Cameron and Holly, Paul McRae, Phyllis Cripps, Jennifer Coulter and family and her longtime friends in Muskoka and the Toronto area. She is predeceased by her husband Charles Edward Patterson, brother Angus Cameron, sisters Grace Hatfield and Marnie Longfellow and grandsons Noel and Owen Patterson-Wagner. Jean was born in Toronto and grew up in Weston, where she began her life-long role as an educator and guidance counsellor at age 19. Jean taught students from elementary school children to fellow educators in Weston, Sudbury, Mississauga and Toronto. She played an important role in professional development with the Faculty of Education at the University of Toronto and wrote a manual for special education students to assist them in integrating to both school and society-at-large. She was honoured with the Olive Diefenbaker Award of Merit for her contribution to the profession. Jean was able to enjoy an independent lifestyle attending the ballet, symphony and other cultural events until shortly before her death.
