WINSLOW -- Jean Fedorovich Williams, 68, a proud resident of Winslow her entire life -- being the eighth generation to do so -- passed away on Thursday, March 25, 2010, in Augusta, with her soulmate and husband, Dick, by her side.She was born in Waterville on Oct. 4, 1941, the daughter of Walter and Natalie (McKenney) Fedorovich Jr.Jean was married on Aug. 16, 1964, to Richard Paul Williams. They first met at Halifax Street School in the fourth grade. They were married for more than 45 years, and shared 58 Christmases together.She is survived by her children, Christopher Paul Williams of Greenville, Janna Jean LaFond of Portland, and Susan Elizabeth Williams of Winslow; her granddaughter, Brianna Kathryn LaFond of Portland; and her Labrador retriever, Jayda Jean.Jean was predeceased by parents; her grandparents, Bert Hayes and Ethel McKenney Hayes and Walter Fedorovich Sr. and Christina Zelenkewich Fedorovich.She was a 1960 graduate of Winslow High School, where she was a member of the WHS marching band and orchestra. She participated in the KV and Allstate orchestras, playing the violin. She also very much enjoyed the piano. As a young girl, Jean enjoyed spending time at her father's hunting camp in Burnham where she visited her pet raccoon, Bandit.Jean was loved and appreciated for her work ethic and positive, friendly attitude.In her early years she worked for Colby College in the Eustis Building for both the admissions and treasurer's office before leaving to be a full-time mom. For many years, she worked as a secretary for the Pleasant Street United Methodist Church. She worked at United Parcel Service for more than 26 years, and she was a proud Lady Teamster.Jean was involved in many activities throughout her life. These included the Daughters of the American Revolution; she twice served as a page at the Continental Congress in Washington, D.C.; and was a Colby Symphony Orchestra violinist for nearly 20 years. She was an active member of the Pleasant Street United Methodist Church, chairing several committees and helping to establish Young at Heart. For her children she was a Cub Scout leader for six boys; Brownie leader for six girls; Girl Scout consultant with 17 leaders and more than 100 girls. When she was young, she had been a Brownie and Girl Scout herself. In their later years, she was a true cheerleader for all their sporting events. Traveling with her family was a true joy, anywhere along the East Coast, Maine to Florida, Eastern Canada and Nassau.Jean was also an animal lover and supported Charlie's Strays and other animal-help groups.Her greatest joy was sharing her life with Dick; her children; granddaughter, Breezie; dog, Jayda and her cats.At Jean's request there will be no funeral service or visiting hours. A memorial will be held in the family garden sometime during the summer months.The family would like to thank all the nurses on the fourth floor oncology at MaineGeneral Medical Center in Augusta. We would also like to thank all those who sent prayers during her time of need.
