Farrell, Jean D. SCHODACK Jean D. Bailey Farrell, age 87 years young, passed away Wednesday, January 16, 2013 at her residence. Jean was born in Oneida and has been a resident of Schodack for more than 40 years. She was employed as an insurance rater for Bame Insurance and was employed right after high school by Myers Department Store in Albany, where she worked as a fashion artist. Jean was a longtime member of the Cathedral of All Saints in Albany. She volunteered at the Cathedral of All Saints during the Medieval Farie for many years and also visited shut-ins. She was a member of the Rensselaer Artist Society and showed her pastels and watercolors. She was also a member of Fort Crailo and Bethlehem art groups. She showed her art at Kinderhook's Village Green Show. She was a member of the bible study group at First Church in Albany. Jean's loves in life were family, church, art and reading. She was an avid New York Yankees fan. She was a very dedicated artist who did pastels, watercolors and always carried a sketchbook to draw something at a moment's notice. Daughter of the late Ivan R. and Viola Mergenthaler Bailey; wife of the late Richard L. Farrell; sister of Ailsa E. Paige and the late Richard Ivan Bailey and Louis E. Bailey; stepmother of Brenda (William) Rossman; grandmother of Theresa Van Valkenburg and Tara Rossman; aunt of Douglas Paige, Steven R. (Julia) Paige, Kathleen (late Lynn) Newland, Merilee (Marshall) Roberts, Denise Lively, Edward Paige (partner, Lisa), Thomas Paige (fianc?e, Patti Lester), Laura (Paul) Clayton, James Farrell and the late Edward Farrell; sister-in-law of Eleanor Bailey. Also survived by several nieces and nephews, six greatnephews, 10 greatnieces, seven great-greatnieces and six great-greatnephews. Funeral will be from the W.J. Lyons Jr. Funeral Home, 1700 Washington Ave., Rensselaer Tuesday, January 29, 2013 at 9 a.m. and 10 a.m. at the Cathedral of All Saints, Swan Street, Albany. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the funeral home Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. Interment will be in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, East Greenbush.
