HARKINS Jane Tilson Harkins - age 62, born in Raleigh, NC; lifetime resident of Mobile, AL passed away peacefully with her family by her side January 4, 2012 at a local hospital. Her life would seem short to some, but those that were touched by her understood that the quality of existence far exceeds the quantity of time in which one lives. She will be remembered as a wonderful mother and grandmother as well as a great friend to many. Ms. Harkins was a former Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor for the State of Alabama where she devoted 24 years of service. She is survived by her sons, Matthew Wade Harkins (Shannon), and William Ryan Harkins (Chloe); grandchildren, Logan Joseph Harkins, Camille Elizabeth Harkins, and expected granddaughter Cohen Elizabeth Harkins; sister, Barbara Tilson Rapier (Rex); and niece, Joanne Humphreys Lambert. She is preceded in death by her parents, William Leigh Tilson and Ruby Bowers Tilson. A visitation will be held at Pine Crest Funeral Home Tuesday, January 10th from 10am to 12pm, followed by a grave side service.
