NORTHPORT James Thomas Baird, age 80, of Northport, died May 18, 2006 at home. Services will be 2 p.m. today, May 21, 2006, at First United Methodist Church of Tuscaloosa with Rev. Dan Kilgore and Rev. Mark Hughes officiating. Burial will follow in Tuscaloosa Memorial Park with Tuscaloosa Memorial Chapel Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.He was preceded in death by his parents, Mamie and Jimmie Baird and sister Jeanne Baird Harris of Mobile.Survivors included his wife, Katherine Mauldin Baird of Northport; daughters, Nancy Baird Turner of Nashville, Tenn., Julie Baird Millen of Memphis, Tenn., and Amy Lucille Baird of New Orleans, La.; son, Jason James Baird of Montgomery; sisters, Jacqueline Baird Tucker of Tuscaloosa, Joyce Baird Mizer of Old Saybrook, Conn., Janet Baird Holt of Leeds, and Janelle Baird Couch of Fayette; brother, J.B. Baird of Tuscaloosa; and grandchildren, Christopher James Turner, John Michael Turner, and Lindsay Katherine Turner, all of Nashville, Tenn., Andrew Scott Millen of Memphis, Tenn., and James Cameron Baird of New Orleans, La.Mr. Baird was born in Roanoke, Ala. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps in World War II. He retired as Production Control Manager at Uniroyal-Goodrich. After retiring, he lived in Frankfurt and Illesheim, Germany, Marco Island, Fla., and Fairhope, Ala.In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be sent to the Good Shepherd Nativity Mission School, 353 Baronne Street, New Orleans, LA 70112.
