PATTERSON, DR. JAMES T., 72, died peacefully on November 22, 2011 surrounded by his loving family. Jim graduated from Eastern High School, attended Centre College, the University of Kentucky and graduated from the University of Louisville Dental School. He practiced oral and maxillofacial surgery and cared compassionately for his patients for 32 years. Jim had a passion for aviation and enjoyed many years flying and restoring with pride his rare antique airplane. He traveled to airshows across the country and won numerous awards including customized champion antique at Oshkosh. He cherished his many friendships associated with flying. Jim was a member of the Quiet Birdmen and Big Spring Country Club. He served on the Kentucky State Board of Dentistry and was a respected member of the Kentucky Dental Association, American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and the Louisville Society of Oral Maxillofacial Surgeons. He was preceded in death by his son, James T. Patterson, II. He is survived and greatly missed by his loving wife of 31 years, Jo Anne; son, Robert "Dan"; daughter, Jennifer; granddaughters, Jaki and Carisa Patterson; also, adored great-nieces, Hadley and Vivianne; and special godchildren, Alex, Katherine and Christopher Taft To honor his life, friends are invited to gather at the old terminal building at Bowman Field, 2815 Taylorsville Road, 2 p.m. Saturday, November 26, 2011, immediately followed by a reception at his home. The family requests expressions of sympathy go to Hosparus.
