HAY, James McBay Jim passed away suddenly on July 28th, 2012 at the age of 75. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Cathy; and sons Neil (Catherine), Colin, his much loved grandsons Cameron and Duncan, his adopted daughter Kathleen (Alasdair) and granddaughter Delany. Jim was born on May 19th, 1937 in Aberdeen, Scotland. He started his career in shipbuilding and later served with the Royal Engineers in Germany from 1958 to 1960. Jim and Cathy were married in 1965 and they emigrated to Canada in 1966. Jim worked mostly in the oil & gas industry. He retired from Syncrude Canada in 1994, and moved to Victoria. After 2001, he worked for the Commissionaires. He loved Robert Burns. He was a life long mason and was particularly fond of his association with the Fort McMurray Lodge 195. In his earlier years he was a competitive swimmer and diver, later reading, golf, and running kept him busy. He is remembered as a much loved husband, father, and grandfather. At Jim's request there will be no funeral service. A private family gathering will be held at a later date.
