James Leonard Allen, 84, Springfield, passed away July 12, 2007, at Maranatha Village. He was born January 9, 1923, in Fresno, Calif. Leonard attended high school in Mountain Grove, Mo., and served in the U.S. Navy from 1941-47. He was a Shift Engineer at Lily Tulip, retiring in 1987. Leonard was a member of First General Baptist Church of Springfield. For many years, he was active in the Springfield Archery Club. Leonard was preceded in death by his wife, Lucille Marie Allen, whom he married in 1945; his parents, Ocie and Thelma Allen; and numerous brothers. He is survived by his son, Larry Allen (Jane) of Rolla; granddaughter, Heather Lane (Scott) of Wentzville; and two great-grandchildren, Devon and Dawson Lane. He is also survived by a brother, Rolla Allen of St. Louis; a sister, Juanita Zimmerman of Wheatland; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Monday, July 16, 2007, at Greenlawn Funeral Home South, with burial in Eastlawn Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday, July 15, 2007, in the funeral home.
