Winters, James G. (Gordie) NASSAU James G. (Gordie) Winters Jr., 67, of Nassau, passed away on September 10, 2009. Gordie was a communicant of St. Mary's Church, Nassau. He retired several years ago from operating his business, the Wash Wagon, and formerly worked for the Albany Fire Department and Portable Cleaners. He was a member of the East Greenbush YMCA. Gordie was a life member and past chief and president of Nassau Hose Co. #1, a former member of the East Schodack Fire Department, a former driver for Nassau Ambulance, member of the Schodack Fire Chief's Association and was presently serving as fire commissioner of Nassau. He was a member of the Marine Corps League and marched in President Kennedy's Inaugural Parade in January of 1961 during his service years as a Marine. Gordie was predeceased by his parents, James G. Winters Sr. and Loretta Poole Winters; his sister, Margaret Polisky; and brother-in-law Ben Polisky. He is survived by his wife, Geraldine Dunn Winters; his son, James G. Winters III of New Port Richey, Fla.; his daughter, Victoria H. Winters of St Petersburg, Fla.; his sister, Beverly (George) Menneto of Clifton Park; and many devoted nieces, nephews and their children. Funeral from St. Mary's Church, Nassau Tuesday at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at St. Mary's Church Monday from 4-8 p.m. Contributions in Gordie's memory to the Nassau Hose Co.#1, Box 42, Nassau, NY 12123 would be appreciated.
