James D. "Duke" Ostrom of Johnson City James D. "Duke" Ostrom, 101 years old, went to be with his Lord on Saturday morning, February 23, 2008, at Susquehanna Nursing Home. He was predeceased by his wife of 71years, Ruth Shipman Ostrom, in 1999; and a brother, Clifford Ostrom. He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Marijane and John Wojtowitz, Johnson City; a grandson and his fiancée, James Wojtowitz and Clea de Carvalho Mattos, New York City and Rio de Janeiro, Brazil; and several nieces and nephews. He was a member of the Boulevard Methodist Church, the Johnson City Lodge #970 F. & A. M, a Paul Harris Fellow and former president, secretary and member of the Johnson City Rotary Club. He was a former owner of the Thomson Agency of Johnson City and an avid card player, golfer, bowler, fisherman, hunter and woods craftsman. His presence will be greatly missed. A Masonic service will be conducted Friday, March 14, 2008, at 10:30 a.m. at the Chopyak-Scheider Funeral Home, 326 Prospect Street, Binghamton, followed by a memorial service at 11 a.m. with Rev. Jose Valencia officiating. The family will receive friends Friday, March 14, 2008, 9:30 a.m. until the time of the services. Contributions may be made in Duke's memory to the Masonic Research Laboratory, 2150 Bleecker Street, Utica, N.Y. 13501-1787.
