James B. Dunphy, age 63, of Hanover, formerly of Milton died at his home after a long illness on Nov. 1, 2012. Born in Boston, he was the son of the late John B. and Virginia (Burke) Dunphy. James retired after 41 years as a technician for Verizon and had proudly served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam Era serving on the USS Saratoga. He was the beloved husband of Christine (McPherson) Dunphy and loving father of Jennifer R. Dunphy of Charlestown, John G. Dunphy and James P. Dunphy both of Hanover. James is also survived by his brothers John of Hopkinton, Paul of Needham, Gregory of Milton, Robert of Hopkinton, and his sisters Ann Chase of Maine, Rosemary MacDonald of Braintree, Eileen Meuse of Weymouth and was predeceased by his sister Virginia St. Ives. He also leaves many nieces and nephews. Visiting hours in the Sullivan Funeral Home, 551 Washington St., Rte 53, in Hanover on Sunday from 2 - 6 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday at 10 a.m. in St. Mary of the Sacred Heart Church, 392 Hanover St., Rte. 139 in Hanover.
