JOHN "JACK" JAMES WATKINS, 88 LAKELAND - John "Jack" James Watkins, 88 of Lakeland, died September 28, 2012. Jack was born June 21, 1924 to Carl and Martha (James) Watkins in Beaver Meadows, PA and moved to Lakeland in 1970. Jack is a graduate of Hazleton High School and Bucknell University in Lewisburg, PA where he received his BS Degree. Jack is a WWII Army Veteran and is a Purple Heart and Bronze Star recipient. He is a member of the American Legion, Post #4, Lakeland and the VFW; a 32 Degree Mason and a member of Masonic Lodge #219, Mt. Vernon, PA; Scottish Rite Bodies and Egypt Temple Shrine both of Tampa and the Lakeland Shrine Club. Jack is also a member of the Elk, Lodge #1291, Lakeland. Jack is a retired manager with Cole National Co. He is preceded in death by his brothers, Roy and Carl Watkins. Jack was united in marriage to his wife, Lois Jean Iles who resides in Lakeland; he is also survived by his sons, Scott Watkins of Sarasota, FL and John Watkins, Jr. of Atlanta, GA; a granddaughter, Chelsea Jean Watkins of Tampa; and his nieces, Lori Diana and Lynn Lundy both of Hazleton, PA. Services will be held privately and inurnment will take place in Lakeland Memorial Gardens. Lakeland Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
