John A. Donohue of Doylestown, Pa., formerly of New City, New York died Saturday, January 15, 2011 at the age of 74. Born in Knockcroghery, Ireland, he was the son of the late James and Delia Gately Donohue. John came to America in 1956 and proudly served his country in the 82nd Airborne Division from 1959 through 1961. He married Kathleen Holland on May 21, 1966 and moved to New City in 1967. John worked for the Board of Education in NYC from 1970 until 1996 and after retirement moved with his wife to Doylestown. During retirement John spent time enjoying what he loved most which was traveling and spending quality time with his family. Nothing brought him more pleasure and joy than being with his six grandchildren, who lovingly named him "Umpa." In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, Kevin Donohue and his wife Ann Marie of Redding, Conn., his daughter, Tracy Tagliareni and her husband Jeff of Titusville, NJ and his grandchildren: Kenny, Alex, Nicholas, John, Conor and Ava. John is also survived by his sister, Anita Martin of Virginia Beach, VA and his brother, Malachy Donoghue of New City, NY, as well as his extending family and friends. Relatives and friends are invited to his Funeral Mass, 11 a.m., Friday, January 21, 2011 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 235 East State Street, Doylestown. Visiting hours will be held on Thursday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. at Reed and Steinbach Funeral Home, 2335 Lower State Road, Doylestown, and from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church prior to Mass. Interment will follow Mass in Washington Crossing National Cemetery, Newtown, Pa.
