DAVIS, Hugh W. of Lakeland, went to be with his Lord on Sept. 23, 2013. A Veteran of the United States Navy having served in WWII, he was also an accomplished, award-winning artist. He was a preacher for churches of Christ in Chattanooga, TN; Birmingham, AL, and Bradenton, Tampa, Winter Haven and Lake Wales. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Doris Nesbitt Davis. Hugh is survived by his daughters, Sandra Davis Winegar (James) of Lakeland, Gail Davis Ogden of Plant City, and Janelle Davis Hastings (Donald) of Lakeland; and 8 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. The funeral will be held on Thursday, Sept. 26th, at 7 pm, at the Church of Christ in Plant City, 315 N. Wilder Road, where the family will receive friends beginning at 6 pm.
