Retired cement finisher TRENTON, S.C.- Mr. Henry Walter Hammond, 93, of Hammond Drive entered into rest April 24, 2004 at his residence. Funeral services will be held 3 p.m. Thursday, April 29, 2004 at Carey Hill Missionary Baptist Church with the Revs. Clifford Williams and Alfred Holmes officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Mr. Hammond, a native of Edgefield County was a member of Carey Hill Missionary Baptist Church where he served as a deacon, Sunday school superintendent, treasurer of the usher's ministry and choir leader. He also served as choir leader of Old Piney Grove Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Beatrice Merriweather Hammond; six sons, Charlie W. Hammond, Otis Hammond, Alex Hammond, Harvest Hammond, Theodis Hammond and Dennis Carter; five daughters, Mattie H. Hinton, Walter Lee Reese, Alberta Wimberly, Barbara H. Smith and Gloria J. Jackson; stepbrother, Joseph Young and stepsister, Nancy Bell Broadwater; 24 gra ndchildren; 25 great- grandchildren, seven great-great grandchildren a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
