<!-- FH = Seawinds Funeral Home and Crematory -->Helen Renee Douros Seng, age 72, of Barefoot Bay, FL, left this life on January 9, 2012, surrounded by her immediate family.Helen was the treasured wife and loving companion of Edward J. Seng for 53 years.Helen was born and raised in Chicago, IL where she was an accomplished competitive horse jumper and showman. She met her husband in 1957 when both were students at De Paul University. She gave birth and lovingly nurtured three children; namely Valerie, Matthew and Joseph Seng. Helen raised her children in their teen years on a farm in Southern Illinois. She later wrote a book on the farm experience of a city girl's family. Helen was a seasoned motorcycle traveler who accompanied her husband on trips to Florida, New Orleans, Kentucky and the Blue Ridge Mountains. Helen retired from North Carolina State University where she was a charter staff member who later managed "Encore", a Continuing Education Program for persons fifty years of age and older. She retired in 1999 and moved to Barefoot Bay, where she volunteered at the public library.Helen is survived by her daughter, Valerie Seng MacEachern (husband, John Eric MacEachern) and Valerie's children, Stephanie Kittle and her son, Landon Tomasik, Andrea Kittle and Brandon Kittle of the Charleston, SC metro area; son, Matthew Edward Seng (wife, Dianna Tucker Seng) and Matthew's sons, Brian Alexander and Nicholas of the Chicago metro area; son, Joseph John Seng DVM (wife, Jane Stimac Seng DVM) and their children, Mathew and Anna of the Chicago metro area. Helen is also survived by her sister, Thalia Douros Coorlas of Chicago, IL, and by numerous cousins, in-laws, nieces and nephews and their families.A Memorial will be scheduled at a later date.
