-->Helen Mae Pope O'Hara SPARTANBURG, SC-- Helen Mae Pope O'Hara, of 139 Fernridge Drive, died Friday, January 11, 2008, at Summit Hills Assisted Living. Born on April 5, 1919 in Gramling, SC; she was a daughter of the David Bailey and Lillie Tinsley Pope and the widow of Patrick Joseph O'Hara. Mrs. O'Hara was an employee of Saks Fifth Avenue in New York City for over 40 years. She was a member of Gramling United Methodist Church. Survivors include two nieces, Myra Reid Covil and her husband, Melvin, of Spartanburg and Linda Reid Collins and her husband, Larry, of Charlotte, NC; three great-nieces, Julie Covil Burnett of her husband, Chip, of Spartanburg, Lisa Reid Smith and her husband, Toney, of Woodruff, SC, Gina Collins Wilkie and her husband, Kenneth, of Charlotte; two great-nephews, Lewis Reid of Alpharetta, GA and Wendell Collins of Charlotte, NC; and great-great nieces and nephews, Anna and Allston Burnett and Reid and Thomas Smith. She was predeceased by a sister, Frances Pope Reid. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, January 14, 2008, at Gramling United Methodist Church Cemetery, Gramling, SC, conducted by the Rev. Karl David Caughman, Jr. The family will receive friends at the graveside following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Gramling United Methodist Church, PO Box 58, Gramling, SC 29348, or to Samaritan Care Hospice, 500 Jeff Davis Drive, Spartanburg, SC 29303.
