HELEN ELIZABETH WHIPPLE Helen Elizabeth Whipple, 84, of 1304 N. Cayuga St., died Wednesday, December 10, 2008 at her home. She was born in Ithaca, daughter of the late Stephen and Agnes Hancy and was the widow of George Edgecomb Whipple who died August 29, 2004. Helen was proud to have been raised in Portland Point and had very fond memories of her parents, brother and sisters. She graduated from Ludlowville High School and worked at Morse Chain. She met George while they were both working at Morse Chain and they were married on September 3, 1954. Helen greatly enjoyed the family gatherings at the cottage in King Ferry and the many trips to Ft. Myers Beach, FL. She was a long time member of the Immaculate Conception Church. A loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother, Helen is survived by her daughters, Lynn (Ronald) Davenport, Patricia Hampton and Debra McCarthy; her sons, George (Jennifer) Whipple and Jerry (Janet) Frand and her grandchildren, Dylan and Casey Davenport, Kevin McCarthy, Megan Hampton and Julia, Emma and Alison Whipple. She is also survived by her sisters, Ann Hammond and Clara Dale and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Helen was also predeceased by her beloved grandson, David James Whipple; her brother, Stephen Hancy and sisters, Agnes Konetchny and Mary Hancy. Funeral services will be celebrated by Rev. Leo Reinhardt on Monday, December 15, 2008 at 10:30 am at the Bangs Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the funeral home prior to the service beginning at 9:30 am. She will be interred with her husband at the Pleasant Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Helen's memory may be made to the Immaculate Conception Church or Immaculate Conception School.
