Helen B. Conklin (nee Helen Agnes Barry), 87, passed away Jan. 24, 2014. She was a direct descendant of the Philhower family that settled in northern New Jersey circa 1748. Helen grew up in Morris Plains, N.J., graduated from Morristown High School, worked for International Plastics as a quality control supervisor during World War II and moved to Springfield, N.J., when she married Theodore Jesse Conklin, Sr.in 1947. The family operated Ideal Gardens, Inc. in Springfield for 50 years. Helen was a member of the Springfield Garden Club and the church choir of the First Presbyterian Church of Springfield, a Sunday School teacher, as well as JDRHS Band Parents secretary. She was preceded in death by her parents, John Francis Barry and Viola Philhower Barry; son Theodore Jesse Conklin, Jr., and step-daughter Joan C. Konight. She is survived by daughters, Susan Conklin and Iris Bradisse (John); grandchildren, Julie Bradisse and Michael Bradisse (Jill); first cousin, Helen (Cookie) Zubick; stepsons, Theodore L. Conklin and Robert L. Conklin (Ann); stepdaughter, Arlene Cocuzzo, and many step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Helen will miss rooting for the New York Yankees here on earth, but will continue to do so from heaven, especially for Derek Jeter!
