Hazel was born April 23, 1953 in Braddock, PA a daughter of the late Frederick Leroy Beers and Alice Louise Carr Beers. Hazel was the housekeeping supervisor at the Arnot Ogden Hospital in Elmira, NY for many years until her illness forced her retirement. Hazel was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother and enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, reading, playing games, visiting at the Highlands Care Center and watching kids play basketball at the high School. Surviving are a son, Norman (Tammy) Martone, Elmira Heights, NY; daughter, Veronica (Nelson) Montero Anchia Laporte, PA; two brothers, Frederick Sherlock, Richard Beers; two sisters, Kay (Dale) Haines, Shirley LaFleur; 10 grandchildren, Amanda, Sabrina, Anthony, Caitlin, Samantha, Tonya, Frank, Francel, Yasler and Aaliyah; a great grandson, Anthony and a great granddaughter, Kristina; and several nieces and nephews. A Celebration of her life was held on Monday, December 15, 2014 at her home in Laporte. Arrangements were under the direction of the P. Dean Homer Funeral Home, 206 Water St., Dushore, PA.
