FIELD, Harry Frederick "Fred"Passed away peacefully at home on April 7th, 2011 in his 93rd year. Born October 29, 1917 in Westmount Quebec, Fred moved with his family to Victoria, and later to Vancouver. While attending UBC, he met his life-long love, Beverly and they were married in 1942. Enlisting with the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1942, Fred and Beverly were transferred to various locations in Canada, Fred finally being stationed on Canada's east coast as a navigator in air squadron coastal patrols. Returning to Vancouver after the war, Fred entered the accounting profession as a Chartered Accountant, where he practiced until his retirement. Fred was a member and Knight of the Order of St. John, and also volunteered his time with the Vancouver branch of Kiwanis International and the UBC Alumni Association. In his spare time, Fred was both an avid golfer and a sailor. He was a member of the Royal Vancouver Yacht Club, and spent many weekends racing in RVYCs Dragon fleet, along with his brother, Ralph. Together with Beverly, he shared a life-long interest in antiquities, art, and travel and each summer for many years they enjoyed the family cabin at Stuart Lake in northern BC. A true gentleman and friend to all, Fred will be remembered for his warm, light-hearted smile; his calm, selfless kindness and generosity; and his cheerfulness, even in difficult times. Fred was pre-deceased by Beverly in 2010, and he is survived by his children Buffie (Stuart ) Moir and George (Nancy) Field, and grandsons Graham and Ian Moir. Special thanks to care-givers Maricel, Tess, and Lana for their support at home. There will be no service held at his request. Friends so wishing may make a donation in his memory to the charity of their choice.
