Harry C. Allen, 88, of Roselle Park passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 23, 2009, at his residence in Roselle Park. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend a celebration of his life on Monday, Dec. 28, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Mastapeter Funeral Home, 400 Faitoute Ave., Roselle Park. A graveside service will be on Tuesday, Dec. 29, at the Grove Reformed Church Cemetery, North Bergen, at 11 a.m. Mr. Allen was born in Ridgefield Park, raised in Union City, and lived the last 35 years in Roselle Park. He was a postal clerk for the United States Postal Service in Jersey City for 30 years, retiring eight years ago. Mr. Allen was a World War II Army corporal and served in the Battle of Sicily and Rome-Arno. He was also a prisoner of war, captured by the Germans. He was also an Army veteran of the Korean War. Surviving are his wife, Barbara E. (nee Dimmick); two sons, Michael S. Allen and his fiancee, Autumn, and Matthew T. Allen and his wife, Kimberly; a grandson, Andrew; his special buddy, Michael Butler; his sister, Marie Manzo, and two sisters-in-law, Ann Allen and June Allen.
