Harold Warner 1938 - 2008 BENNINGTON Harold C. "Archie" Warner, 69, a life long resident of Burgess Road, died Saturday, Sept. 20, at Centers for Living and Rehabilitation following a brief illness.Born in Troy, N.Y. Dec. 17, 1938, he was the son of the late Harold C. and Eunice Bagley Warner. He received his education in the Bennington schools and was a1958 graduate of Bennington High School and later graduated from the Community College of Vermont. A veteran of the Vietnam War, Archie served in the U. S. Navy from 1958 -1962. He married the former Patricia Dockum in Bennington on June 12, 1965. In earlier years Archie was employed at Globe Union in Bennington. A licensed real estate agent, he owned and operated Archie Warner Real Estate for several years. Archie was later employed at Bennington College until his retirement. At the time of his death Archie was serving as a member of the Board of Directors of United Counseling Service, a position which he had held for many years. He was also a life member of Bennington Elks Lodge 567 and a member of the Bennington Trail Conservancy. Archie had been a beekeeper for many years and will be remembered by many for his outgoing and friendly personality. "He had never met a person that he didn't like." He leaves his wife, Patricia Warner, of Bennington; two sons, Sean Warner, and Aaron Warner, both of Burlington, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. FUNERAL NOTICE: At Archie's request private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family. There will be no calling hours. Should friend's desire contributions in Archie Warner's memory may be made to either of two programs at United Counseling Service, Big Brothers Big Sisters or Head Start, through the office of the MAHAR & SON FUNERAL HOME, 628 Main Street, Bennington, VT 05201.
