Harold M. Hansen -->Harold M. Red Hansen, of Avon, formerly of So. Boston, August 19, 2011, at the age of 89. Born in So. Boston, Harold graduated from So. Boston High School and Wentworth Institute. Upon his graduation, he entered the U.S. Navy, serving during WWII, where he was awarded several commendations, including the American Theater Medal and the Victory Medal. Harold was a retired Civil Engineer for the State of Massachusetts Dept. of Public Works, where he had worked for many years. Harold was a very active member of the Avon Baptist Church for the past several years. In his spare time, he was an active member of the Mount Zion Royal Arch Chapter of the Masons in Stoughton, the Bay State Commander No. 38 Knights Templar in Brockton, an Aleppo Temple Shriner, as well as a member of the Avon Council on Aging. Harold was also an avid bowler and enjoyed singing and music. Harold was pre-deceased by his beloved wife, Jacqueline (Selvage) Hansen. Loving father of Norma K. Crane and her late husband Douglas of Brockton, Carol J. Young and her husband Rob of Plymouth, Jacqueline M. Hansen of VA, Stephen M. Hansen and his wife Alexandra of VA and David J. Hansen and his wife Susan of IN. Devoted brother of Vernon Hansen of Quincy and the late Russell Hansen, Edmund Hansen, Norma Schmidt, Olga McElroy and Thelma Manson. Also survived by 11 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Reposing at the Cartwright Funeral Home, 419 No. Main St. (Rte. 28) Randolph. A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday at 10 a.m. in the Avon Baptist Church, 119 No. Main St., Avon. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Tuesday 4 | 7 p.m. Burial in the Avon Cemetery.
