REID, Gordon Ernest Born March 1, 1917 in Victoria to John and Florence Reid. Passed away on Friday, June 9, 2006 in the Cowichan District Hospital. Gordon was raised in Victoria and graduated from Victoria High School, joining the R.C.A.F. in 1942 as an engineer /mechanic servicing planes used for flight training mainly at Dafoe, Sask. After the war he went commercial fishing for 1 season, then auto driving for C&C Taxi before joining his brother-in-law Jack Carter and Clarence Tayler in the oil burner installation and repair business. He married his wife of 45 years Jill in 1961 and soon after went to work for Saanich Municipality as Grounds Maintenance and in 1982 retired to live in the Cowichan Valley. Gordon was predeceased by his parents, and his two sisters Vera Carter and Ethel Lohbrunner and leaves behind his wife Jill, son Rob and his family (Sandra, Aaron and Isaac), his daughter Jennifer, and niece Joan (Gordon) all of who will miss him greatly. Lately Gordon was a resident of Cowichan Lodge after receiving home care for 2 years. The family gives grateful thanks to the Cowichan Home Support Staff, particularly Louise, Matt, Jodi and Glen. Also to the Cowichan Lodge staff for their excellent care and compassion. Finally to Dr. Philippson and Cowichan District Hospital staff for their care in the final week, in particular Brenda not only for Gordon but for the family as well. No service by request a celebration of Gordon's life to follow later in the summer. 256802
