WOODCOCK, George George C. Woodcock (Papa), of Beaumont, Alberta, passed away peacefully in his home on Sunday, March 25th, 2007 at the age of 86. Born on May 23, 1920, in Bootle, Merseyside, England. He played professional soccer prior to serving in WWII as a Forward Air Observer in the Royal Air Force, where he saw action in North Africa and on the beaches of Normandy. He immigrated to Toronto in 1956 and started his own business, expanding to Edmonton in 1978 where he currently provides employment for over 200 people. George loved to travel, swim and golf. He particularly enjoyed spending time with his grandkids which included taking them swimming every Saturday morning. Many trips were made to the dollar store or Michael's Craft store "just because that's where they wanted to go". Survived by his loving wife, Linda; brother, Cliff (Pat) of London, England; five daughters: Janet of Honolulu, Susan (Jeff) of Pittsburgh, Fae, April (Dirk) and Andrea of Edmonton; and three grandchildren: Adam, Sydney and Kennedy. A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, April 2, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Vital Church in Beaumont, Alberta with Father Innaiah Bellamkonda officiating.
