George Albert Norton, 81    GORHAM -- George A. Norton, 81, of Gorham died Wednesday, March 7, 2007, at Mercy Hospital.     George was born in South Portland, the son of Patrick and Mattie Norton, where he attended South Portland schools.     Mr. Norton entered the United States Navy on Oct. 18, 1943, and served during WWII until his honorable discharge on May 6, 1946.     George married Alice Breault on May 30, 1952.     He worked for Portland Pipe Line as a supervisor in South Portland for 33 years, retiring in 1983.     George enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing golf and, most especially, watching and attending all his grandchildren's games as they grew up.     Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Alice Norton of Gorham; son John Norton and wife Kathy of Cape Elizabeth; three grandchildren, Shawn Norton of South Portland, Brian Norton of Cape Elizabeth and Michael Norton of Scarborough; and two sisters, Ann Fredricks of South Portland and Martha Mills.     Visiting hours will be held from 4-7 p.m. Sunday, March 11, 2007, at the Hobbs Funeral Home, 230 Cottage Rd., South Portland. A funeral Mass will be held 10 a.m. Monday, March 12, 2007, at the funeral home. Interment to follow at Calvary Cemetery.      The family would like to extend a special thank you to the doctors and nurses on the 3rd floor and ICU for their compassionate care that they gave to George.    George Albert Norton
