PENN YAN - Gary Kenneth Malcolm died at home, surrounded by loved ones on July 6, 2012.To honor Gary's wishes, there will be no public services; however, friends are invited to gather to celebrate his life on Friday (July 13) from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Elks Lodge, 133 Main St., Penn Yan, where Gary was a member. Those wishing to make donations in his memory may contribute to the Keuka Comfort Care Home, PO Box 107, Penn Yan, N.Y. 14527. To share memories of Gary and his family, friends are encouraged to send thoughts and messages to Cari, c/o Young Funeral Home, PO Box 173, Williamson, N.Y. 14589.Born on March 2, 1950, Gary was a graduate of Penn Yan Academy. He spent many years working in the Malcolm Family Auto Business, and the past 26 years as a real estate agent broker. Gary lived a full life with his adoring family and friends. A sports enthusiast, he built a reputation for excellence and aggressive play on the diamond in the Men's Slow Pitch League in Newark. He enjoyed the camaraderie of friends in his bowling league who helped him celebrate two perfect 300 games, as well as his golf leagues where he achieved a hole-in-one on two occasions. Gary found many hours of enjoyment and serenity in boating, fishing, vacationing and golf.He was an avid fan of Men's Syracuse University Basketball and the New York Yankees - a tradition he passed on to and shared with his daughter.Gary is survived by his daughter, the light and love of his life, Cari Malcolm, who cared so lovingly for him during his life, and especially during his final weeks. He also appreciated and loved their beloved K-9 companion, Bailey, who brought lots of smiles, laughter and comfort during Gary's final months. Gary is also survived by his parents, Mark and Betty Malcolm; brothers Mark II (Deb) and Timothy (Barb) Malcolm; nephews Mark William (Anabelle) and Andrew Malcolm; his great-nephew, Alexander; and many aunts, uncles and cousins, including special aunt Isabel Young, all of whom he will miss seeing as their lives unfold yet will forever be in their memories. He will be missed by his very special friends, Paul & Gay Coon, Holly & Larry Zaglaniczny, Kim Elkins Mal & Oneita Covert, and John & Anne Schultz, who were all very dear to Gary and remained close by during his final months.
