Frederick K. Mack of Annapolis, Md. Frederick K. Mack, age 83, died on August 22, 2007 at Anne Arundel Medical Center in Annapolis, Md. of heart failure. He was predeceased by his first wife, Jeanne D. Mack; his parents, Edison and Grace Mack; and his brothers, Arthur, Donald, and Bernard Mack. He is survived by his second wife, Ann S. Mack, who he married on October 11, 1986; his daughter, Abigail J. Mack, Conklin, N.Y. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Sarah and Alice Mack; and many nieces and nephews, and their children and grandchildren, and cousins. He was born and raised in Watertown, New York and graduated from the high school there. Frederick was a veteran of WWII and served overseas in France and Germany from 1944 to 1945. He liked to tell of being the driver for a Lieutenant in various parts of Germany. Upon returning from the war, he received his B.S. and Master's degrees at Syracuse University on the G.I. Bill. He was a Hydro Geologist for the U.S. Geological Survey in Albany, N.Y. and was transferred to Annapolis in 1959. He retired from the U.S. G.S. in 1980 and from the Maryland Dept. of Water Resources in 1997. As a youth he was a Boy Scout and earned the highest award given by his troop at the time (not an Eagle Scout). He volunteered for the Boy Scouts of America for more than 40 years where he earned and received the Silver Beaver Award. He was a member of St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church and attended St. John Neumann since it was built. He was a kind, gentle man who loved his family. There will be a viewing at the John M. Taylor Funeral Home on Monday from 10-1 p.m. and a Funeral Service is to be held at 1 p.m. in the Taylor Funeral Home Chapel for those friends and family in Annapolis. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held in the Holy Family Catholic Church in Watertown, New York at 11 a.m., Saturday, September 1, 2007, and burial will be in Parrish Cemetery in Brownville, New York for friends and family in the New York area. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Baltimore Area Council, Boy Scouts of America (BSA), 701 Wyman Park Drive, Baltimore, Md. 21211-2899. The family thanks the staff at the Critical Care Unit of Anne Arundel Medical Center for their care of Frederick and their kindness. Online condolences may be made at www.johnmtaylorfuneralhome.com.
