Mr. Frederick Ira Morrison September 1, 1917 - February 16, 2009 MORRISON, Frederick Ira - With great regret and deep sadness, we announce the passing of Fred on Monday, February 16, 2009, at the Wynfield Residence. He was the beloved husband of Mabel (Burton) for almost 60 years and the devoted father and father-in-law of Paul and Lynn (Stott) and Susie and Jeremy (Williams) and the brother of Helen ((deceased). Special Grampa of Lee and Erin and great-grandfather of Seth and Caylee. Self-graduated from high school at a young age, Fred was a resourceful and hard-working man, self-reliant, honest, funny, unpretentious and generous. A gentleman who could wear a beret or a cowboy hat with equal aplomb. He loved to be with friends and family, loved hockey (a feared opponent and valued teammate in his Army days) and horse-racing. He could fix anything, and build anything, often with minimal tools, and built a cottage and created a haven for himself and his family on Morrison Lake. Fred spent many years in the glass business and contributed to the building of Toronto's skyline. After retirement, he and Mabel discovered travelling and especially enjoyed visiting Europe and the British Isles. Fred also enjoyed visiting his local pub, where he was a well-loved and dependable patron. The family appreciates the care he received from the dedicated staff at Wynfield. The family will receive friends at the SHERRIN FUNERAL HOME, 873 Kingston Rd., Toronto on Wednesday, February 18, between 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. A memorial service will be also held there, at 11 a.m. Thursday, February 19. Flowers welcome or memorial donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
