Francis "Frank" J. Lawrence, a native of Closter, New Jersey, died peacefully on Sunday, November 6, 2011, in the arms of his brother, daughter and granddaughter at his granddaughter's home in Eastham. F rank was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Susan (Sullivan) Lawrence, brothers Ewald "Larry" and Paul, and son Paul F. Lawrence. He is survived by a brother, Eugene Lawrence and Eugene's wife, Alba Lucia; daughter, Susan Anne Gabettie and a son, Eric J. Lawrence and his wife Lenore, and six grandchildren: Tanya Gabettie Grady and her husband Schooner of Eastham, Massachusetts.; Patrick James Gabettie of Closter, New Jersey; Christopher Michael Lawrence of Greensboro, North Carolina; and Kerri Elizabeth Lawrence, Erik Matthew Lawrence and Tyler Evan Lawrence, of Williamsburg, Virginia. Born on November 20, 1928, in Guttenberg, New Jersey, he was drafted during the Korean War and pursued active duty in the 82nd Airborne. Frank purchased his first home in Teaneck, New Jersey. He eventually raised a family there while commuting to New York City where he worked as a Foreman for City Construction, Inc., for over 40 years. During his distinguished career he worked on landmark building projects including the Empire State Building, and the World Trade Center's Twin Towers. Frank was a dedicated member of the Union, Heating and Insulation Local 12, NYC. Besides spending time with his family, Frank enjoyed extended weekends, holidays and summers at his house in Nauset Heights in East Orleans. A private viewing is scheduled at Nickerson Funeral Home in Orleans.
