Loving father of James and his wife Dorothy of Rockland, Valerie McCarthy of Quincy, William of Dorchester, Robert and his wife Claudia of Braintree, Mary and her husband Dr. Patrick Madden of Milton, Helen and her husband James Atkinson of Dorchester, Stephen and his wife Janice of South Boston and Cynthia McCarthy of Dorchester. Also survived by 11 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Devoted brother of Eileen Batakis of Worcester and the late Arthur McCarthy, Thomas McCarthy, Mary Harris and Evelyn Burke-Lidkea. Visiting hours in the John J. O'Connor & Son Funeral Home, 740 Adams St. (near Gallivan Blvd.) Dorchester, Thursday 4 to 8 p.m. Funeral Mass in St. Ann's Church, Neponset Friday morning at 10 o'clock.
