-><!-- DisplayFullObituaryText -->Frances ThomsonRed Hook, NY - Frances Thomson, 94, of Red Hook, died Thursday, July 11th, 2013 at Northern Dutchess hospital. Born on October 18, 1918 in Embden, Maine, she was the daughter of the late Alston and Katherine (Chase) Ward.She moved to Red Hook in 1951 with her husband Norman where they operated a fruit and dairy farm on Linden Avenue. From 1955 until her retirement in 1977, she taught Home Economics at Red Hook Central School. She was a lifelong member of St. John's Reformed Church in Upper Red Hook, where she served in many capacities.Fran was chosen for several community awards as she gave so generously of her time and service, as well as volunteering in Hospice for several years.She is survived by her children, a son, Edward of Tivoli, and his son Dale(Joella) Thomson of Latham, N.Y., a daughter Jean (Allan) Bard of Red Hook and their sons Jonathan(Amanda) of Buffalo, Daniel(Brittany) of N.H., and a daughter, Laurie of Red Hook, and Katherine(William) Moore of Red Hook and their son Carlton, as well as several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Norman in 1973, a brother, Lowell, in 2011, and a grandson, Christopher, in 1999.A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, July 19, at 11 a.m. at St. John' Reformed Church in Upper Red Hook.Donations may be given in Frances' name to the Deacons Fund of St. John's Reformed Church, 126 Old Post Road, Red Hook, N.Y.12571 or Hospice of Ulster County, 34 Broadway, Kingston, N.Y. 12401Condolences may be expressed at yadackfox.com
