THOMSON Evelyn Jane R. (Carmichael) Passed away January 9, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born June 17, 1941, in Sidney, Jane was a great-great-granddaughter of William and Margaret Thomson, pioneer settlers of the Saanich Peninsula. Following service with the RCAF she returned to Greater Victoria and married, eventually settling in Sooke where she has resided for 25 years. She was a proud member of Sooke Rotary Club and valued friendships gained there. Interested in all aspects of her chosen community she worked for a time with Sooke 4-H. She was also an active member of the Saanich Pioneer Society in recognition of her heritage. Jane gained international renown as a breeder of Scottish Terriers, and had many Championships to her credit, including 3 times Champion Breeder in the Canadian Kennel Club. She leaves to mourn her passing, husband Jack, sister Norma (Mike) Sealey, brothers-in-law Don and Alex (Pat) Thomson. "Auntie Jane" will be greatly missed by nieces and nephews, Michele, Lynn, & James (Sealey), Dean & Darren (Thomson) as well as by grand-nephews and niece, Scott, Shea, Michael & Moqia. Special thanks to Dr. Robin Saunders for his attentive care, and to the wonderful and devoted staff and volunteers at Hospice for their tender and loving care. She had many great friends who assisted, but a special thanks go to Val, Mary & Tom, who were always there for Jane when needed. No funeral by request, but donations to Victoria Hospice would be appreciated. A tea for friends and family will be held on Friday, January 21, from 2 4 p.m. at the Sooke Legion Hall. 29092
