PEARCE, Ethel Margaret April 7, 1914 – September 26, 2013Ethel passed away peacefully, with her son and daughter-in-law at her side. Predeceased by her beloved husband, Ingel in 1991, Ethel is survived by her sons Robert/Bob (Carol), and Gord (Susan); grandchildren Richard (Dewi), Karen (Kevin), Christine (Duncan), Rob (Kris), Lynda (Harris); great-grandchildren Robbie, Jayden, Justin, Felisha, Nikki, Pearce, Callum, Holly, Riley, Alyssa and Javan; along with extended family and friends.Ethel was born and raised in Edmonton, Alberta and started her teaching career in a one room country school in Coronado, Alberta. It was there that she met and married Ingel, and shortly after they moved to Edmonton, and together, built their lives and raised their family.Ethel's life experiences over her 99 years were many and varied. As with so many of her generation, she worked hard, lived her life with dignity, and persevered through challenges with grace and humour. She once asked, "Why did I get to live so long?" We know why – because we needed her around to regale us with her stories, astound us with her razor sharp memory, and most of all demonstrate by example what it means to live life with integrity, accept with grace the things we cannot change, and be prepared to laugh at ourselves, just as she always did.Her passing will leave a hole in the hearts of all of us who loved her so much. Rest well Mom/Grandma/Great Grandma/Friend.A Celebration of Life will be held at 6:00 p.m., Saturday, October 5, 2013, at the Reception Centre of Evergreen Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home, 16204 Fort Road, Edmonton. Refreshments will follow.
