DAVIDSON _ Ernest (Ernie) McCrea, born January 6, 1920 in Ballygoland, Ireland, passed away peacefully on February 10, 2007 in Burnaby, BC. Ernie was the youngest of six children born to Robert and Elizabeth Davidson. The family immigrated to Canada when he was a year old. They lived in many small BC communities finally settling in Revelstoke in 1927. He joined the Army (Rocky Mountain Rangers) in 1938 and then the 16th Scottish in Victoria. He was with the 10th Flight Anti Aircraft in Petawawa, Ontario when he was transferred to Debert, Nova Scotia where he met the love of his life, Thelma Dobson. Thelma and Ernie were married in Kamloops on February 16, 1945. They lived on Sea Island and worked in Vancouver for many years, eventually moving to Haney where Ernie managed the T. Eaton company furniture/catalogue store. He excelled in that position and for many years was the number one salesman "from the Lakehead West". When Eatons closed their Furniture/Catalogue stores Ernie and Thelma moved to Mission where together they managed Sears furniture store. They then moved on to Abbotsford and in 1986 they moved to Coquitlam. Ernie will be remembered as kind, considerate and a true gentleman, highly regarded by all who knew him. He was predeceased by his wife Thelma in July 2006, his brothers Jim and Jack, sisters Ruby and Maddy. He is survived by his loving daughter and son-in-law Dawn and Ron Prokop, sister Pearl Watt (BC), sisters-in-law Marjorie Davidson (BC), Edrie Jean (Peter) Mosher (NS), May Wilson (NS), brother-in-law William (Mayola) Dobson (NS), and many nieces, nephews and friends. A gathering honoring the lives of Ernie and Thelma will be held in Coquitlam at a later date. Their cremated remains will be buried together, with a graveside service to be held this summer at the Bayview Cemetery in Half Island Cove, Nova Scotia.
