Survived by sons Barry (Sheila), Darrel (Pat) and Rick (Chris), grandchildren Greg, Kent and Shelley, step-grandchildren Lisa and Ben, and great-grandchildren Amy and Emmett. Ernie was born in Greenwood, BC on April 3, 1917. He and Ethel left Greenwood in 1964 for Nanaimo and spent the next 40 years on the Island, including many happy years near Qualicum - no more woodstoves or tire chains They moved to Burnaby to be near family in 2004. In his 94 years Ernie was a gold miner, blacksmith, truck driver, gardener, woodworker, and above all raconteur. No visit was complete without a story about mining in the 40's, plowing snow in the 50's or working at S. Madill in Nanaimo in the 60's. Challenged by several types of cancer since the 1950's, he was a tough old survivor. Ernie will be sadly missed by his family.
