Linda Elizabeth Self Wheeler, 35, of 1312 Cokesbury Road, wife of Joseph Chadwick "Chad" Wheeler, died Saturday, April 19, 2008. Born in Greenwood, she was the daughter of Linda Coleman Self and the late James Cuthbert "Jimmy" Self, Jr. Elizabeth was a graduate of Greenwood High School, attended Converse College and was a 1995 graduate of The College of Charleston, where she received her B.A. degree in communications. She served as a newsroom intern under Jane Pauley with NBC News, Dateline; served as a public relations intern with VH1 and as a production intern with ABC News Channel 13 in West Palm Beach, Fla. She served as Senior Editor and Associate Producer with CBS News, Channel 12, West Palm Beach, from 1997 - 1998 and as Associate Producer of CBS News, Channel 7, WSPA, Greenville, S.C. from 1998 - 1999. She was self employed as an etiquette and international protocol advisor from 2002 - 2005, holding seminars for children and young adults to create a foundation of good manners and leadership skills for the generations of tomorrow. She also was an agency owner for HMA Incorporated, The Juliana Collezione from 2004 - 2005. From 2005 until her return to Greenwood from Bluffton in 2007, she was a full-time mother to her son, Jace, who was the light of her life. Earlier this year, she joined her brother, Jay, at Greenwood Mills, working with Single Source Apparel, a wholly owned subsidiary of Greenwood Mills. Elizabeth served as a member of the Self Family Foundation's "Next Generation" Board, was active in fundraising efforts for the Humane Society in both Greenwood and Hilton Head Island and was a member of First Baptist Church. Surviving is her husband of the home; her mother of Greenwood; her son, Jason Chadwick "Jace" Wheeler, Jr. of the home; a stepdaughter, Jordan Wheeler of Pittsburgh, Pa.; her brothers, James C. "Jay" Self III and his wife, Angela, and their children, James Cuthbert "Jimmy" Self, IV and Mackley Garrison Self, and Furman Coleman Self and his wife, Kay, and their children, Furman Coleman Self, Jr. and Kirby Elizabeth Self; her aunts, Virginia Preston Self, Dr. Sally Elizabeth Self and Ruth Coleman Ellerbe; her uncle, William Mathews "Mat" Self and his wife, Dixie; cousins, Cade Brennan Jackson and her husband Adam, Annie Laurie Self Pulver, M.D. and her husband, Aaron Pulver, M.D., William Mathews "Bubba" Self, Jr. and his wife, Leigh Trent Self, Virginia Turner "Ginger" Self, Thomas Preston Self, Mary Andrews Self, Russell Aubrey Harley, III and Helen Virginia "Gensie" Harley; her father-in-law, Rudy W. Wheeler of Hilton Head Island; her mother-in-law, Pandora B. "Pandy" Wheeler of Bluffton; her sister-in-law, Kelly Andersen and her husband, Michael, and their children, Emma Grace Andersen and Jacob Coleman Andersen of Long Island, N.Y. A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church with Dr. Anthony Hopkins and Dr. J. William Harris officiating. Burial will be at 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday at Edgewood Cemetery, prior to the service. Pallbearers will be Bubba Self, Gray Hines, Shane Saxon, Cal Kinard, Thomas Kinard, Andrew Kinard, Graham Kinard, John Erick Patterson, Russell Mathis, Rhett Sanders, David Rylee and Robb Drinkard. The family will receive friends in the church fellowship hall immediately following the service. The family is at her mother's home, 607 Gatewood Drive.
