WHEELER Elizabeth Frisbie Wheeler, age 98, formerly of Easton, passed away peacefully on June 25, 2012 in her North Manasota Key home, in Englewood, Florida. She was the devoted wife of 53 years to the late Daniel Fairchild Wheeler Jr. Born on December 22, 1913, she was the daughter of John and Lillian Mac Ilroy of Stratford. Adopted by Joseph and Charlotte Frisbie, she grew up in their Brooklawn Park home in Fairfield. Mr. Frisbie was the owner and president of the Frisbie Pie Company in Bridgeport. Mrs. Wheeler graduated from The Unquowa School and completed her studies at the Traphaven School of Design in New York City. Her interest was in making and designing hats. In 1934, she married Daniel Fairchild Wheeler Jr., a partner in the law firm of Marsh, Day, & Calhoun of Bridgeport. They resided in Easton, where they raised four children. Mrs. Wheeler was very active in her community. During World War II, she held an administrative position at Sikorsky Aircraft Company. She drove an ambulance for the Red Cross, and was a past president of the Junior League, in Bridgeport. Mrs. Wheeler is survived by her four children, Joan duPont of Southport, Betsey Hall of Palm Beach, FL, Mimi Wheeler of New York City, and Dan Wheeler of Wenham, MA.
