Elizabeth "Betty" Forbesof Owego, N.Y.Elizabeth "Betty" Forbes, 73, of Owego, N.Y., passed away on Friday, January 6, 2006, at Ideal Skilled Nursing Facility, Endicott, N.Y. She was predeceased by her husband, William "Jack" Forbes. Betty is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, John Forbes, Calif., Robert and Cyndi Forbes, Owego, Edward and Darlene Forbes, Owego; eight grandchildren, Sean, Sara, Melissa, Jessica, Troy, Jaclyn, Sara, Carly; sister and brother-in-law, Patricia and Gerald Novak, Calif.; nieces and nephews, Katherine and Joe Scott, Phillip and Julia Novak, John and Tessa Novak, and their families; and a special friend, John Katchuk. Betty was born in Owego, N.Y., on February 6, 1932, the daughter of the late Mack and Lela (Baur) Chaffee. She served as Director of Income Maintenance for Tioga County Department of Social Services for 23 years, and was a Past Matron and member of the Order of the Eastern Star for 55 years.A Funeral Service will be held at Richards Funeral Home, Rte. 17c West, Owego, on Tuesday, January 10, 2006, at 11:00 a.m., with Rev. Parrish Bridges, Pastor of the First Presbyterian Union Church, Owego, officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Tioga Cemetery, Owego.
