Elizabeth DuBose Porcher Mahoney, 93, artist and musician, died Saturday, Oct. 6, 2001, at a hospital in Charleston. Born April 30, 1908, in Porcher's Bluff, she was the youngest child of Philip Gendron Porcher and Mary Frances Porcher (nee Cordes). She attended the College of Charleston and was a graduate of the University of South Carolina with a Bachelor of Arts degree. After graduation she taught in Aiken and Columbia school systems. She became Curator of Education at Charleston Museum. During World War II, she was a volunteer with the American Red Cross and other war efforts. She married her husband, J.J. Mahoney, in 1949, and together they created a successful automatic vending machine business, operating in several states. Her husband, J.J., and many nieces and nephews survive her. A Requiem Mass will be held 11 a.m. today at Stella Maris Catholic Church, Sullivan's Island. Interment will follow at Christ Episcoapl Chruch Cemetery, Mount Pleasant. A reception will be held at the family's home following the service. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Mother Teresa's order, 335 E. 145th St., Bronx, NY 10451. - Arrangements by McAlister-Smith Funeral Home, 1520 Rifle Range Road, Mount Pleasant.
