Avis de décès de Elizabeth-Ann-Robson Hammill


Athens - Elizabeth Ann Robson Hammill was born May 9, 1922 in Stoughton, Wisconsin, to Maxine and Marshall Robson of Edgerton and Stoughton, Wisconsin. Her grandfather was a confectioner and ice cream maker and owned his own business, which was shared by Marshall. The stock market crash forced a move to Beloit, Wisconsin, where Marshall went to work for Fairbanks, Morse while he finished his law degree.Elizabeth resided there until she graduated from National College of Education in Evanston, Illinois. She earned many honors there, including class President, Who's Who in American Colleges and Universities, and Senior May Queen. Upon graduation she taught kindergarten in Grosse Point Woods, Michigan.On March 31, 1945, she left teaching to marry 1st Lt. Frederick M. Hammill and became a war bride. Upon completing his service they moved to Atlanta, Georgia where he completed his Engineering degree at Georgia Tech. They then moved to Martinsville, Virginia where Frederick began his lifetime career with the DuPont Company. Eventually they were transferred to Athens, Georgia where they retired.They were members of the First Presbyterian Church of Athens. Elizabeth is survived by her husband, three married children, Beth and Henri Byrnes, Marshall and Sharon Hammill and Martin and Cathy Hammill. Also by eight grandchildren, Faith and Chib White, Hillary Simpson, Meagan Farley, Derek Odom, Britton Hammill, Leslie and Catherine Hammill and one great grandchild, Henri Philip White.A memorial service will be held Tuesday, December 11, 2007 at 2:00 PM at First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Andrew Cooke and Rev. Dr. John Kipp officiating. Burial will follow in Beloit Wisconsin.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Building Fund at First Presbyterian Church of Athens.The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday from 7:00 until 9:00 PM.Lord and Stephens, EAST is in charge of arrangements.
